Creek and secondary-growth dry-mesic oak forest in Michigan, USA Welcome to Cedar Creek, which starts a little over 3.5 miles upstream in Big Cedar Lake. Cedar Creek flows two miles from south to north along and through Pierce Cedar Creek Institute’s property. At this site, the creek borders a second-growth dry-mesic forest dominated by black (Quercus velutina) and red (Q. rubra) oaks and hickories (Carya spp.).
