Lacawac Sanctuary Mixed Hardwood Forest with Heavy Deer Browsing: Site 5 Spring 2025

A mixed hardwood forest located in the Pocono Mountain region of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The soils here are quite shallow with relatively little ground or subcanopy cover. This is due in large part to herbivory by white tailed deer which are over abundant in this forest. The forest in this video has been heavily impacted by deer browsing since the mid-1900’s.
