Topic:
Can We Save Sea Turtles From Climate Change?
Sea turtles – those iconic ancient mariners – have been around for millions of years and weathered many changes in our global climate. But today’s rate of change, on top of many other stressors, may be more than our current 7 species can handle. Sea level rise and increased temperatures are degrading nesting habitats and skewing sea turtle sex ratios, leading to calls for population relocation efforts. But manipulating populations can be pointless or even perilous – how do we know when, where and how to interfere?
