Florida Caracaras with Dr. Joan Morrison

Dr. Joan Morrison is the world expert on Crested Caracaras (Caracara cheriway). She has been studying them, primarily in Florida, since the early 1990’s. I was fortunate to follow her into the field to photograph her in action and she sat down for a great interview. Here, I’ve distilled the 45 minute interview down to 6 1/2 minutes and included some of my photos of her.

The Crested Caracara is a federally protected species. Joan’s work trapping and handling these birds is conducted under federal permits.
