Galbreath Wildlands Preserve: Site 2 Autumn 2022 – Pond in Mixed Woodland

Perennial pond in mixed conifer and oak woodland in northern California. Water levels in “Wood Duck” pond at Sonoma State’s Galbreath Wildlands Preserve fluctuate with the wet, cool winters and hot, arid summers. It is an important water source for many birds, mammals and amphibians, including two species of newts, Taricha granulosa and Taricha torosa.
