Atigun Gorge is located about 13 miles south of Toolik Field Station along the Dalton Highway. The gorge is home to a section of the Atigun River. This area is rich with fossils and with bare patches of ground, a decent size group of Arctic ground squirrels have made it their home. A handful of projects study these animals to understand their behaviour and how its evolving with a changing climate.
