Waukesha Field Station: Site 3 Spring 2022 – Riparian Corridor Restoration

Riparian corridor restoration project in California, USA. You are viewing riparian corridor under restoration. This area was largely unmanaged for fifty years, and had become heavily infested with woody invasives, such as common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica). In the summer of 2021 the woody invasives were removed from the area, releasing a variety of large, old oak trees. Follow up work will continue in order to control resprouts of invasives, and to plant an understory of prairie plants to restore this area to an oak savanna.
