Rancheria Creek and surrounding riparian habitat on the Galbreath Wildlands Preserve in northern California. Annual river flows vary widely between the wet, cool winters and hot, arid summers – sections of the river are seasonal. Deciduous tree canopy cover of willow, alder and Oregon ash cool surface water providing cool refugia for temperature sensitive amphibians and salmonids.
